Multi-Page Portfolio Site Course
Websites have become the primary gateway for sharing knowledge and building learning communities. This workshop brings together practical techniques and creative thinking.
What You'll Explore
Weekly structure
- Week 1: Site architecture and design systems
- Week 2: Homepage and project gallery
- Week 3: Individual project case studies
- Week 4: Support pages and optimization
What you build each week
Week one deliverable is a style guide and navigation component. Week two produces homepage and gallery with working links. Week three creates three detailed project pages. Week four finalizes contact form, about page, and performance improvements.
Full Overview
Single-page sites have limits. When Jasper Thornhill needed to showcase eighteen design projects with detailed case studies, cramming everything onto one scrolling page created a confusing mess.
Multi-page architecture solves problems that beginners often ignore until too late. How do you maintain consistent styling across different pages? Where should navigation live? How do browsers handle links and page loads?
Four weeks of connected learning
Week one establishes your site architecture and global styles. You create a design system with reusable components, learning how professionals avoid repetitive code. Week two builds your homepage and project index, focusing on grid layouts and card-based design.
The third week dives into individual project pages.
You learn template structures that adapt to different content types while maintaining visual consistency. Week four covers contact forms, about pages, and optimization techniques that make your site load faster than most amateur portfolios.
Technical skills that compound
You work with CSS custom properties for theming, relative units for true responsiveness, and proper file organization that scales beyond twelve files. The navigation system teaches state management basics. Image optimization shows why some sites load instantly while others frustrate visitors.
Each week includes peer review sessions where you see how others solve the same challenges differently. By the end, you have a portfolio site that works as evidence of what you can build.
Common Questions
Not necessarily. We cover foundational concepts and build complexity gradually. If you've worked with basic HTML or editing platforms, you'll adapt quickly. Beginners benefit from the structured approach.
Plan for around six hours each week. This includes live sessions, practical assignments, and peer discussion. Some weeks require more if you're experimenting with optional challenges.
Yes. All sessions are recorded and accessible for 90 days after the program ends. You can revisit demonstrations and catch up if you miss a live session.
A code editor and modern browser are essential. We recommend free options and share setup guides during the first session. No paid software is required.
